The Offence of Being Stared At

In George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four there is something called "Facecrime" which means to have a facial expression that is deemed unsuitable to Big Brother. Like the rest of Nineteen Eighty-Four, this is now also coming true. Posters have been appearing on the London Underground warning passengers: "Intrusive staring of a sexual nature is sexual harassment." It then gives instructions on how to report said staring. Anybody caught in the act could face a Public Order charge. If this rule had been introduced just a few years ago there would have been chuckles of derision and the scheme would have been demolished with a few obvious questions. Today we're living in Clown World where nobody bats an eyelid. What do they mean by "staring"? The word is literally defined as to look intently for a long period of time at a certain object. That's it. Feminists who support the law say that it is merely designed to address the obviously lewd behaviour of certain people in a public place, yet there is a sliding scale below that which ends with merely keeping one's gaze in a single place, perhaps unintentionally while daydreaming. Nowhere does the law state where the line is drawn on that scale and so the misdemeanour could, if somebody wished, be applied anywhere along it. This rule will be enforced selectively and I expect only white males will be targeted. They say "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"; well feminism is a perfect example; it gives woman absolutely power and so it corrupts them. It weaponizes women against civilization itself. This rule will of course be abused. You might accidentally push in front of a woman on the platform and exchange a few harsh words with her and; for the sake of revenge, she might report you falsely for staring. Remember the old police maxim "Believe the Woman!" Together with other so called "anti-misogyny" legislation it is causing some men to avoid contact with women at all, and that is as understandable as it is tragic, see:

. These new laws are going to devastate human interaction. Not only will men and women find it harder to start a relationship with loving partners, you'll see people on Underground trains staring down at the floor, or even wearing sunglasses indoors. This new regime has emerged just after the mask mandates have eased in most places, and I don't think that's coincidental.
